in cooperation with the publishing house Lugemik, a new bookstore opened at the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design (ETDM). The expanded selection focuses on modern design, fashion and art literature.

According to Kai Lobjakas, head of ETDM, the museum has expanded its book offering with the desire to give visitors a more comprehensive selection of specialised literature. In cooperation with the Lugemik, the museum will offer a wide range of publications on design theory, history, graphic design, fashion, and consumer art, which are planned to be regularly updated with fresh professional material.

At the beginning of February, Lugemik also opened a bookshop at Kai Art Center, where the focus is on domestic and international art literature.

According to Kai Art Center CEO Kadri Laas-Lepasepa, Lugemik is one of the most important art publishing houses in Estonia and the bookstore started by Lugemik is an important addition to the Estonian cultural landscape. “We are very happy that in addition to the specific works of the exhibitions, we will now be able to introduce a selection of domestic and international art literature at Kai,” comments Laas-Lepasepp.

The bookstores will be open in ETDM and Kai Art Center every week from Wednesday to Sunday, with exact opening hours available on their websites.

Lugemik is an independent art publishing house founded in 2010 by graphic designer Indrek Sirkel and artist Anu Vahtra. The first Lugemik bookstore opened its doors in the spring of 2013 in the courtyard of the Contemporary Art of Estonia (EKKM). Over the past 12 years, Lugemik has cooperated with a large number of Estonian and international artists, designers, theorists and institutions, and participated in various art book fairs around the world.
