Estonian audience has is reached by an exhibition introducing French design with a focus on mainlythe second half of the 20th century with some exceptions from slightly earlier and later years.


French design is examined via the position of icon or cult object analyzing the conditions that place one on such a position – is it the commercial success, power of communication or mere visual language? 20 objects are displayed that have in one way or another shaped the french everyday and understanding of design butalso reached the internatonal arena and have thus shaped the idea of french design.


Among the represented designers are Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Jean Prouvé, Serge Mouille, Henry Massonnet, Philippe Starck, Ronan ja Erwan Bouroullec and many others.


The exhibition has been complied by Cédric Morisset ja Hélène Convert.

20 FRENCH DESIGN ICONS is displayed at the Museum of Applied Art and Design with the support of the Institut Francais Estonie.
