Words & Works from a World Away
Australian and Estonian jewellery and objects

How do others view us? How do we view them? What do they say about us on the other side of the world? And what do you know about them?
“Words & Works from a World Away” is a singular experiment where Estonian and Australian jewellers and artists were invited to provide reflections of each other. The artists produced work in response to statements from the other side of the world about their own country and these were often unusual and unexpected.
Their reaction and the resulting work explores issues of identity and the global flow of information between two physically and culturally separate countries.

Curator: Claire McArdle
Co-curator: Ulvi Haagensen

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue. Essays in the catalogue are written by Robert Baines and Kadri Mälk

The exhibition and catalogue are supported by the Estonian Ministry of Culture, Estonian Cultural Endowment, Refiner Translations, Liviko.
