Harry Tertsius. Cabinet “Fishing Plan Fulfilled”. 1961.
The term “intarsia artist” has been used with reference to Harry Tertsius. His best-known works have been made namely in the wooden inlay technique. In 1939, he advanced his skills in this particular field in Finland. Tertsius’s intarsia table was designed in the era when the descriptive mode was the best way to stay “on the right track”: it is sufficiently concrete, recognizable, and conveys a message as clearly as possible. Different pictures have been made with a remarkably fine sense of technique.
