Liidia Elken. Set. 1974. Brass, spinning.
In the 1970s the reticent design of form began to prevail more and more. Ornaments and playing with facture gave way to the beauty of pure constructive forms. Next to the monumental forms the metal artists have created also sets, vases, goblets, and candlesticks, where the main emphasis has been on the decorativeness and expressiveness of the form. The unique solutions of metal vessels have been offered by Liidia Elken, Salme Raunam, Urve Küttner, Leili Kuldkepp, Albert Hansen, and others.
